Chic Boutique — Shoes & Bags
A bold two-level fashion accessories store blending teal elegance with natural warmth
A two-storey fashion accessories store specialising in shoes and handbags, designed around a deep petrol-teal wall colour paired with warm natural oak and rattan display units. White marble-effect floor tiles and arched backlit niches give the space a timeless boutique feel, while a sculptural open staircase connects both retail levels and becomes a design feature in its own right.
What the Client Needed
- Create a distinctive brand identity that stands out and draws customers from the street
- Maximise product display capacity across two floors without sacrificing the feeling of spaciousness
- Use premium materials that communicate quality and justify luxury price points
- Design flexible display zones that can be rearranged for seasonal collections
- Integrate warm accent lighting to highlight merchandise and draw customers deeper into the store
The Groundwork
Research into successful global fashion boutiques confirmed that memorable retail spaces use a strong signature colour anchored by natural textures to prevent the space feeling cold. Competitor stores in the region relied heavily on white and neutral palettes, offering an opportunity to differentiate through boldness. Customer journey mapping revealed that shoppers engage more with product when display units are at varied heights with soft, tactile materials.
The Idea
"Bold Elegance" — a space where the deep confidence of teal meets the organic warmth of natural wood to frame fashion accessories as art worth discovering.
What We Faced
- Balancing a bold, saturated wall colour with the need for merchandise to remain the visual focal point
- Designing a staircase that is structurally sound while serving as a signature design element rather than purely functional
- Ensuring consistent, flattering lighting across display surfaces on both floors to make shoes and bags look their best
How We Solved It
- Warm oak display units and cream architectural elements positioned in front of the teal walls create contrast that draws the eye to products rather than the backdrop
- An open-tread steel-and-oak floating staircase with integrated planters at the base turns a code requirement into a showpiece visible from the entrance
- A layered lighting scheme combines track-mounted spotlights with warm LED strips inside each arched niche and under-shelf ribbon lights, eliminating shadows at all display heights
