Girls' Twin Bedroom Suite
A dreamy twin bedroom with a connected play zone in soft pink and sage green
A children's suite designed for a family with two daughters, combining a sophisticated girls' twin bedroom with a vibrant active play zone. The girls' room features tall sage-green upholstered headboards, a pink accent wall with a star-cutout arched study nook, and a teal dressing area — creating a space that is equally nurturing and magical. The adjacent play zone centres on an indoor climbing wall and whimsical hot-air balloon wallpaper to encourage active, imaginative childhood development.
What the Client Needed
- Provide each child with a personal, age-appropriate sleeping and study space
- Incorporate active play equipment to support physical development indoors
- Use a palette that feels feminine yet sophisticated, avoiding overly juvenile tones
- Maximise storage without sacrificing floor play area
- Create a design flexible enough to evolve as the children grow older
The Groundwork
Research focused on child-developmental design principles — specifically how colour, texture, and spatial zoning affect cognitive focus and emotional wellbeing in children. Soft sage green and dusty pink were selected for their documented calming effect, while bold yellow accents stimulate energy and creativity. The inclusion of a climbing wall responds to evidence that embedded physical activity improves attention span and sleep quality in school-age children.
The Idea
"Blossom & Play" — two complementary worlds under one roof, where quiet creativity and active adventure share equal space.
What We Faced
- Fitting a full indoor climbing wall and gym equipment into a residential room without overwhelming the sleeping area
- Balancing two distinct colour palettes across interconnected rooms while maintaining visual cohesion
- Integrating a functional study nook with task lighting inside the arched pink alcove without disrupting the decorative arch detail
How We Solved It
- The climbing wall was positioned on the end wall opposite the bed, keeping the sleep zone visually separate and uncluttered
- A shared warm wood tone across all cabinetry in both rooms acts as a unifying anchor between the two distinct colour schemes
- Recessed LED strip lighting was run along the inner curve of the arch above the desk, providing warm task light that blends seamlessly with the nook's ambient glow
