Classical Sitting Room
Neoclassical grandeur meets warm hospitality in a timeless interior
A sitting area design that balances comfort with visual interest. The project centers on creating a living space that invites conversation, relaxation, and everyday life — a room that feels both beautifully designed and genuinely livable.
What the Client Needed
- Design a sitting area that the whole family would want to use daily
- Create a cohesive look that works with the rest of the home's interiors
- Select furnishings that are both comfortable and aesthetically strong
- Achieve a room that photographs well and feels special to be in
The Groundwork
The most successful sitting areas create a sense of occasion without sacrificing comfort. Research into residential living spaces consistently shows that furniture arrangement — not furniture quality — has the greatest impact on how welcoming and functional a room feels.
The Idea
"Everyday Elegance" — a sitting area where beauty and comfort are the same thing. The design avoids the common trap of rooms that look perfect but feel too precious to use.
What We Faced
- Creating a sitting area that feels designed without feeling stiff or formal
- Balancing the aesthetic preferences of multiple family members into one cohesive space
How We Solved It
- Arranged seating to encourage conversation while maintaining sightlines to the television and window
- Used a neutral palette as the foundation with layered textiles and accessories providing personality and warmth
